Banjos by J. A. Sloan & Son
Quietly making some of the world's finest musical instruments since 1959.

11" hard maple Extra Stout rim trimmed with ebony, marquetry surround on rim, stainless steel tone ring. Unique custom touches on this instrument include hand-painted design inside resonator and sterling silver "portholes" surrounding abalone position dots.

I think the other end of this instrument is worth showing off, too. Note the Waverly tuners. I had been admiring them for quite some time and have finally made them an option. This banjo is a left handed model, made for a fine gentleman in Australia.

We make every type of banjo (and then some) but I think it's safe to say that the lion's share of our instruments have been 22 fret five-stringers. Whatever style of instrument you prefer, we can equip it with any high quality wood you like and any type of tone ring we make. No extra charge for left handed fretboards.

Same very traditional instrument, front view.

Old, old, old banjo. My father estimates its creation at 1962. That was the year he purchased the small mountain of Honduras mahogany that has been the mainstay of our neck building ever since. This is one of only about six banjos I have ever seen by him having a maple neck. But "News Flash" - I am re-introducing maple with several new instruments currently in progress.
