Banjos by J. A. Sloan & Son
Quietly making some of the world's finest musical instruments since 1959.

My father estimates the number of Pete Seeger style Long Necks he produced at around 100 necks total. All of these were made during the first half of the 1960s, many under the name Omar (from John Augustus Omar Sloan) and with fewer than half having been sold as completed instruments with rims attached. The Long Neck banjos on this page were all assembled in 2006 from parts made by my father during that early era. While the number of first generation Sloan banjo components is rapidly diminishing, a limited number of instruments can still be assembled from these vintage parts. Prices for Long Neck banjos begin at $2100.00.
